Steel carports kits are ubiquitous in Australia. Every flat has a set – most houses have them in addition to garages. Even public car parks feature them Why you might ask? Well in the land of few trees and more termites wooden carports are really aren’t a good idea. And are practically impossible to get planning consent for in the surprisingly red-tape bound country.
Why the carports you ask though? After all it hardly rains in Australia does it? Not very much in many areas – but there is an awful lot of sun. And it doesn’t really matter how good your car’s air conditioning is once you have heated the interior to about 50C – easily done in about 30 minutes in Perth in the summer by the way. You won’t be able to turn the air con on because you won’t be able to touch the controls, sit on the seat on change gears (changing gears with touching the gear stick is very tricky). So hence the popularity of steel carport kits.
